[J-Drama] Kamisama No Nyoubou 神様の女房 (2011)

Synopsis

In a portrayal of Panasonic founder Matsushita Konosuke and his wife, Mumeno. Matsushita was born in 1894. In 1915, he married Iue Mumeno, who was 19 at the time. Three years later, he founded the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., which would go on to become one of the biggest electronics manufacturers in the world and later become known as the Panasonic Corporation. Matsushita, who passed away in 1989, was widely referred to as “Keiei no Kamisama,” or “the god of management.”

Iue Mumeno (Tokiwa Takako), the second daughter of a prosperous Awaji Island seaman, married Matsushita Konosuke (Tsutsui Michitaka), an Osaka electrician who had no parents, family, wealth or academic education, in 1915. For Mumeno, the marriage was an easy one without a mother-in-law, and she hoped to build their fortune from scratch. Konosuke had resigned from his company early into their marriage and set up his own business but things were not going well. He would not give up until he had succeeded because the secret of success is perseverance. And so, Mumeno helped by frequenting the pawnshop and doing needlework on the side. The couple tasted failure and success and the turmoil of war. Matsushita, who went on to found the Matsushita Group, came to be known as the “god of management” while Mumeno was acknowledged as “another founder” for the support she gave to her husband over the course of her life.
