[J-Drama] Pandora III: Kakumei Zenya パンドラIII 革命前夜 (2011)
Synopsis
Following in the same theme of dangerous discoveries, the “Pandora's box” for the new series will be a medical treatment invented to prevent suicides. Eguchi plays Suzuki, a neuroscience researcher in a wheelchair who develops the treatment out of his desire to counter Japan's high suicide rate.
A Maritime Self-Defence Force submarine on its way back to Japan disappears. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yuda (Uchino Masaaki) agonises over the position of the government which intends to conceal information, and is consumed by thoughts of suicide. Meanwhile, Suzuki Seiji (Eguchi Yosuke), a neuroscientist, returns to Japan fresh from the success of clinical trials in America to prevent suicide. The two men meet again after 20 years, and Yuda is saved by this unauthorised method of treatment. However, Yuda, who no longer has suicidal thoughts, seems to have become a changed person. In pursuit of remilitarisation, he starts to plan a coup with Kaburaki (Ozawa Yukiyoshi) of the Maritime Self-Defence Force. Japan is suddenly plunged into turmoil. The journalist, Tachikawa (Yamamoto Koji), suspects that the government is hiding something. Has Suzuki created a saviour or a dictator … …?
